Brooklyn Flea

This morning with coffee in hand we headed over to the Brooklyn Flea which takes place on Sundays in the old Williamsburg Bank Building.

Here you can find everything from vintage postcards, old toy microscope kits, lobster rolls ...

and even....

Rupert the Bear.

We're not in Kansas anymore.

This is the view from out our back door here at Scaredy Kat. The tornado-like storm that came through on Thursday brought a giant tree from 3 doors down crashing into our yard. We count ourselves lucky since it fell at the perfect angle and if had veered in any direction it would have done much more damage.

NYC Postcard of the Week - Penn Station

The Pennsylvania Station covers the entire area from Seventh to Eighth Avenues and 31st and 33rd Streets. It is connected with New Jersey by twin tunnels under the Hudson River 60 feet below the surface. Station was opened on September 8, 1910; cost of entire work over$100,000,000.

The Statue of Liberty located on Liberty Island in Upper New York Bay as seen from a circle Line Statue Ferry boat which plies between the Island and Battery Park at the tip of Lower New York City.

A Public Service Reminder

Earlier this summer we went to a county fair in NJ and came upon an old friend. An icon from our childhood and a reminder of the danger of fire and especially forest fires. All hail Smokey The Bear.
