As of January 22, it's only
1 cent more for Domestic 1st Class Mail.
That's 45 cents for a regular letter.

& then, what do you do? Well, Scaredy Kat's Teena decided that our
Suki alphabet wrap would work great as decor for her baby shower!Cool, right? The banner above was made with 2 circles of the wrap glued together with hanging string between.

Here above, it serves it's orginal purpose - in a decorative way!
And, below, I just had to show the festive treatment she gave to carnival tickets. Banner-rific!

This is the view from out our back door here at Scaredy Kat. The tornado-like storm that came through on Thursday brought a giant tree from 3 doors down crashing into our yard. We count ourselves lucky since it fell at the perfect angle and if had veered in any direction it would have done much more damage.

Here we are in 2010 and for us at Scaredy Kat it feels like we have completed a cycle. It was just after the holidays last year that we saw a for rent sign that was only up for a few hours. That was the moment that started the idea of moving across the street and began a whole new chapter in the land of Scaredy Kat. We feel grateful and honored to have been able to do what we have in the last year and it is all because of the continued support of our friends and customers that it could happen. After closing for only a few days, on June 27 we opened for business at #232 5th Avenue! It's been fantastic!

We are so thankful for all the warm welcomes, good wishes, love & support from our fabulous customers, friends and family!

We are also hugely thankful for the work of our contractor, Rosario, and his crew, and also the guys at Bergen Tile. They truly went above & beyond.

And we are incredibly thankful for our friends Brad, Tom, Teena, Art & Leah who helped with the actual move (Cheers to All!!). They worked their muscles to nubs with amazing energy moving boxes & displays across the street, putting together Ikea furniture, and hanging track lighting - again (thanks, Tom!). And, we have 2 extra-special "thank you's". One goes out to Leah for being there with us since the beginning of this craziness & keeping us all together! The other goes out to Nathan, who flew all the way from Colorado to, among many other glamorous things, move 100 or more boxes - heavy boxes - across the street, and to help build some of our beautiful new displays.

I'm a little slow on the uptake, but I'll have pictures soon...And, hopefully, a new awning!

Yes, that's right - we're moving to bigger digs by the middle of June! We'll be able to carry even more great things in a wider space, that's easier to maneuver!

We'll be sad to leave our home for the last 7 years, but will be happy to embrace our new home right across the street for years to come.

We hope you'll be happy with it, too! Come on down & visit - we hope to be up & running in the new space by the weekend of the 12th.

Postal Rate Change

So, it's that time of year again....no, I'm not talking about Mother's Day (though that's on Sunday), but Postal Rate Change Day! For some reason, it seems to have become an annual event. On May the 11th, the rate for a 1st class letter-rate stamp will be $ .44 instead of $ .42. To check out additional rates, go to this USPS PDF and take a look.
